Student Services

Student Services support and enhance the student experience at Laurier. We are a family of professional services focused on the success and well being of Laurier Brantford Students.  Here is a list of the various services available on campus. 

Aboriginal Services provides support services and programs to self-identified Native students. Services offered include direction in how to access academic advice and support, career planning, and bursaries and scholarships.

Accessible Learning assists full-time and part-time students with disabilities.  After a consultation, students will be advised which supports are appropriate in their individual situation.  Some of the supports provided by Accessible Learning include note-takers, tutors, and exam accommodations. 


Athletics & Recreation offers the students of Laurier Brantford the opportunity to take part in sports and maintain good health while pursuing academics.  You may participate in a variety of intramural sports and fitness classes at the Wilkes House Gym. Recreation and Athletics also hosts the Relay for Life event every fall in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. During the summer months, Recreation runs a Day Camp that is open to the Brantford Community.


Career Services can help you find work during your studies and finding a career after you graduate.  Get assistance with resume writing, career and educational decisions, applying to post-degree educational programs.  They can help you find a summer job or part –time work on campus.


Counselling Services  is on campus to compliment the university’s academic mission by assisting students’ emotional, psychological and social development. This is accomplished through personal counselling as well as groups and workshops that address a variety of issues.

 

Director of Student Services manages and guides all the professional staff within Student Services.  Contact this office if you are not sure which service, or group of services, will best assist you. 


Health Services is your family physician while you are away from home.  During all clinic hours, there is a Registered Nurse to see you.  In addition to this, you may make an appointment to see a physician.  Health Services has many useful resources students are encouraged to use.


OneCard is the student identification card for the University. The OneCard doubles as a student’s bus pass, as well as grants them access to all of the Library’s online resources and the Wilkes House gym.


Peer Connect is comprised of student mentors that run various programs and events that promote Diversity, Engagement and Leadership on campus. As well, they are considered to be the “information hub” on campus, and all students are encouraged to stop by the Peer Connect Desk (located on the First Floor of the Student Centre) when they have questions.


Residential Services offers housing to incoming first year students and aims to provide all students with the opportunity to grow, learn, work and live with others inside their residence environment.  This service can ease your transition from living at home to living at university.
  

Spiritual Advising is a support that students can access in the local community.  Contact this service to find out about what faith communities in the local area offer and how you can attend events and services or meet with a spiritual advisor from your faith.  You can also find out when and where student faith groups are meeting on campus.  Find out how this unique community network can enhance your student experience.

 

Student Affairs manages the student life experience on the Laurier Brantford Campus. The Student Affairs Department works in collaboration with Student Services as well as the Students’ Union in order to ensure that various student groups reach their goal. Student Affairs also manages and promotes the Co-Curricular Record.


WLUSU is the representative body to the community and the university administration WLUSU also provides services and events that are designed for you to develop leadership skills, meet other students on campus and of course, have fun!


Writing & Study Skills Centre offers students individual and group consultations for general concerns about writing and learning or in preparation for specific evaluation criteria. As well, the Writing & Study Skill Centre runs a variety of workshops that will help strengthen a student’s academic success.
