Prospective and New Students

Prospective Students

We encourage students considering Wilfrid Laurier University to contact us to inquire about services and facilities for students with disabilities. Prospective students and their families or teachers may direct their inquiries to Deirdre Boyle at (519) 756-8228, ext. 5759, or e-mail her at dboyle@wlu.ca.

We are also pleased to meet with prospective students to discuss their needs in relation to support services provided at Laurier. You might want to consider arranging a campus tour through Laurier’s Liaison Office in conjunction with your preliminary visit with us.

Students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or acquired brain injury should be prepared to provide current psycho-educational or neuro-psychological documentation. Students with sensory, mobility or medical disabilities should provide the Centre with current medical documentation of the condition.

New Students

The Accessible Learning Centre builds strong partnerships with students with disabilities to ensure their academic success. Early identification is vital. When you’ve accepted your offer of admission to Laurier, please make sure you complete and return the Self-Identification to the Accessible Learning Centre form you’ll find in the Welcome Book. Our receiving this form is the only way we’ll know you’re planning on attending Wilfrid Laurier University. We’ll contact you to meet, preferably during the summer months during our "Transition 101" program, to get acquainted and to decide which kinds of supports we’ll need to put in place before classes begin for the fall term. Once you arrive on campus for Orientation Week you’ll be very, very busy, so we’ve found it’s best to arrange to meet earlier.
